Germs, germs go away. Come again another day.
Wait. Scratch that. Germs go away, far away, and never, never come back. Seriously.
After the last two weeks, I’m ready to put a big yellow QUARANTINED sign on the door, and wave the white flag. Is it just my house? It seems like the germs keep recycling through the house, coming back in different forms of illness. Just when I think I’ve evicted them from the premises, the germies reappear, like an over-stay-the welcome, unwanted guest.
We can’t be the only ones. This unseasonably warm October weather seems like the perfect breeding ground for all those back-to-school germs. Or at least that’s my theory.
Two weeks ago, Ben had an ear infection and fever. All four of us have been fighting a cold for more than a week. Nicholas is still a big goobery mess of a bug. It went through both boys, Pierre, and now me. I thought I was the last, when Benjamin woke up at 5:00 a.m. this morning with a fever of 102 degrees F. Awesome. Poor kiddo says that he hurts all over. A reaction to his flu vaccination yesterday, maybe? Whatever the case, he’s home from school, his brother is home from school, and I will be spending the day disinfecting the house. I buy Clorox wipes in bulk, I kid you not.
And you know what else can go away? The mommy-guilt. I will be plopping both boys in front of the Disney channel for the day. It is an overcast, icky day with rain in the forecast. I have two sick kids. If there is a better excuse for T.V., I haven’t heard it. I’ll be kicking the mommy-guilt out the door with the germs. What lovely playmates they’ll make. Now, get the heck out of my house!!
Ugh.
Stay healthy!
